What happened when the InfoSec Team went on a 40ft tree top adventure in the forest…
Last week the team at InfoSec People turned their out of office on and dived into Tarzan rope swings instead – no, seriously - all bound for a team adventure at the Go Ape! centre in the Forest of Dean.
Here’s what happened next…
A two-three hour Tree Top Adventure awaited us as we navigated 40ft high wobbly crossings, zip wires and more – would any of us survive to answer emails on Monday morning? Thankfully, we were all unscathed by the experience, but we had all grown much stronger as a team.
We already considered ourselves a strong squad but we can now tell you, from experience, that a Go Ape! adventure further strengthens team communication, enhances problem solving skills and strengthens team support, as well as introducing a healthy bit of competition and enjoyment – you could say it’s a great stress reliever yelping like Tarzan as you let go of the comfortable wooden platform and leap into the unknown! But don’t take my word for it - Here’s some soundbites from the team:
‘I was nervous as heights are not my forte but once I had conquered the training course I threw myself into it (off it, up it, down it) and felt a massive sense of achievement at the end… it was rejuvenating!‘ Lauren, Office Manager.
‘Good opportunity to spend some time with the team away from the office and celebrate a great start to the year.’ James, Senior IT Security Consultant.
‘One of the best days I’ve had! I was so excited for Go ape and it exceeded all expectations!’ Hayley, Resourcer/Recruiter.
‘Conquered my fear of heights and a fantastic day out with the InfoSec Team!’ Charlotte, Resourcer/Recruiter.
‘I didn’t think I’d make it past the first course, but by the end I wanted to go around again! Go Ape! really brings out the best in everyone, there were smiles and laughter all around!’ Angie, Marketing Executive.
‘YewwwwwwwwwAHHHHHHHhhaaaaa!’ Chris, MD.
Go Ape! say that working and cooperating your way around the course not only improves your problem-solving skills, but your working relationships too. We all realised that by the end of the adventure, we hadn’t thought about work all day - only the task at hand to hop or swing from one tree to the next. The time flew and by the time we landed in the woodchips, at the final zip wire challenge, we were unanimous that we wanted to go around the course again!
The day finished off with a super-cool Segway Tour around the forest, before a delicious BBQ supper under canopy.
We’re now looking to install a Zip Wire in the office. Apparently, we need planning permission.
A huge thank you to the Go Ape! team in the Forest of Dean for taking great care of us and ensuring we had a great day.
Maybe you think you’d fit in with our rope-swinging team? We’re currently recruiting for a Senior Recruitment Consultant and an IT and Cyber Security Recruitment Resourcer role, both based in the heart of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire - read the job descriptions for more details and to apply.
