Hayley visits The Crypt School girls to discuss information security and cyber careers

Women in Cyber UK

Our Cyber Security Recruitment Partner and STEM Ambassador, Hayley McAvoy recently visited The Crypt School in Gloucester to give a talk about pathways into information security and cyber security careers. Joining her were other female professionals from local organisations, such as EDF Energy and Renishaw, discussing STEM subjects and promoting these careers to the year seven girls.

‘It was great to see so many females interested in hearing more about STEM and maybe one day a student who I inspired with my presentation will be the next leader of a cyber security company!’ - Hayley McAvoy, Cyber Security Recruitment Partner at InfoSec People.

Here at InfoSec People, we fully support raising the hires of women in the cyber and information security industry. We aim for a 25% proportion of the candidates we put forward to be female, working hard to network with diverse audiences. By doing this we promote diversity, contributing to the significant change that we need to achieve in the industry.

Currently, only 7% of the cyber workforce in Europe is female (according to the National Cyber Security Centre) and we hope that by our combined efforts with other organisations, promoting cyber and information security careers to all audiences, we can bring this up to 25% by 2025.

We support Women in Cyber UK, who are working hard to create initiatives to bring together those working in the industry as well as helping people enter the industry, and supporting organisations with recruitment plans and strategies to grow the female workforce in their companies.
