Onboarding & Training

During my onboarding process with the InfoSec team, everything went seamlessly from the get-go. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly and provided with all the necessary equipment to hit the ground running. My kit, including a laptop, work phone, and even a stylish Musto brand InfoSec polo top for networking events, was all set up on time, ensuring I had everything I needed to dive into my new role.

What really stood out during my onboarding experience was the personalised attention I received. I had sit-downs diarised with everyone, giving me the opportunity to introduce myself and instantly feel welcomed and at home. These meetings also provided valuable insights into each team member’s role and responsibilities within the organisation.

One of the highlights of my onboarding was the comprehensive training provided by Lauren, the Head of Operations. She guided me through the intricacies of our CRM system and helped me set up all my logins for all the additional tools at our disposal. It was evident that the team prioritises ongoing learning and development, as every InfoSec member has access to a generous £1,000 training budget annually. This commitment to personal growth is exemplified by my decision to utilise my training budget this year to complete a Sales Management course, which aligns perfectly with my role as the Head of Contract.

Moreover, training at InfoSec is not limited to formal courses. Consultants regularly conduct pop-up presentations, sharing valuable tips and tricks that have proven successful in the market. This culture of continuous learning ensures that everyone stays at the forefront of industry trends and best practices.

Office Locations

I believe the InfoSec people offices are a great place to work, offering both convenient locations and top-notch amenities.

Our Headquarters is based in the heart of the town centre in Cheltenham (less than a 15-minute walk from the train station or a quick scooter ride!), situated in the iconic Eagle Tower, which boasts breathtaking views of the surrounding area. Cheltenham is a charming Spa Town and did you know it is also considered one of the happiest places to live in the Southwest? Oh, and it’s home to the prestigious Cheltenham Races, as well as hosting a variety of festivals including, music, food and drink, science and much more!

I am based in our satellite office in Bristol which is nestled in a shared office building slap bang in the centre, our Bristol location provides all the amenities one could ask for, including quiet meeting rooms, a well-equipped kitchen area with one of the best coffee machines out there!

Additionally, being in Bristol means easy access to a plethora of excellent food spots to lively bars, ensuring that your workdays are as enjoyable as they are productive.

Networking & Client sites

Right from the get-go from my very first chat with Ben Craig the Managing Director, it was clear that InfoSec People stands out as a rare breed among recruitment agencies, prioritising genuine relationship-building over transactional interactions. Unlike many others in the industry, InfoSec People understands the importance of fostering meaningful connections within the technology & cybersecurity community.

What sets InfoSec People apart is their willingness to invest in their team members’ professional development. They not only support but actively encourage attendance at networking events by covering associated costs. This commitment to investing in their employees’ growth demonstrates InfoSec People’s dedication to nurturing long-term relationships, both internally and externally but also allows you as an individual to immerse yourself within your vertical/ market and who doesn’t like getting out of the office.

Moreover, InfoSec People also extend their support to industry-wide initiatives. As sponsors of events such as ISC2, techSPARK, Hub 8, BetaDen, and Plexal, they play a vital role in fostering collaboration and innovation within the technology & cybersecurity ecosystem.

It has also been clear to me that Ben our MD has been leading from the front when it comes to getting onto client sites to not only accelerate client relationships but also strengthen them, since joining as the Head of Contract I have been encouraged to get out of the office at least a couple times a month, with most of these trips being in London – so it isn’t a traditional agency environment where it can be tough to get trips OOO signed off by managers as they can see it as a business cost and not a business opportunity!

Work-life balance

Reflecting on my first nine months with InfoSec People one aspect that has been crystal clear is the company’s commitment to employee well-being and work-life balance and this has truly made a positive impact on my professional journey in just the 9 months I have been here.

One of the standout perks that immediately caught my attention is the concept of “duvet days.“ something that I haven’t had at previous companies I’ve worked for. These two additional days off each year, can be taken at short notice, they offer the flexibility and understanding needed for those unexpected moments when a day off is necessary, whether it’s for self-care or simply to recharge.

Another aspect of InfoSec People’s approach to work-life balance which I have utilised is the implementation of hybrid working. Having the freedom to choose where to work for two days a week has been invaluable. Whether it’s from the comfort of home or a favourite coffee shop, this flexibility fosters a sense of autonomy and trust, enhancing productivity.

The company’s policy of unlimited holidays is not just a gimmick but a tangible benefit. It speaks volumes about InfoSec People’s trust in their employees’ judgment and responsibility. This freedom to take as much time off as needed, within reason, allows for proper rest and relaxation, essential for maintaining well-being and preventing burnout – I know that I have used my fair share already and was in the Philippines for the best part of 3 weeks, and swam lake Windermere for the charity Help Bristol’s Homeless – in which InfoSec People as a company donated to, alongside some of the team!

They also offer us Private health care through Vitality, giving us peace of mind when it comes to our physical and mental health.
